Tenth Plasma Product Biotechnology 2017
The Tenth International Plasma Product Biotechnology Meeting was held at Radisson Blu Resort, St Georges Bay on the north-east coast of Malta 15 - 19 May 2017. This biennial meeting started in 1999.
The meeting provided a topical and stimulating program on the latest developments of importance to the industry, covering: manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, pathogen safety, clinical development, commercial development, and technical innovations. The oral sessions was chaired by recognized industry experts with broad experience and insight into their respective disciplines. A key part of the meeting was the poster session — always a lively and highly interactive session. The relaxed and informal format of the meeting is well known — a feature which promotes discussion and networking between participants.
The oral program and the lively poster session was built upon the delegates contributions, ensuring that current issues important to delegates was covered. The sessions covered the areas of manufacturing, quality, regulatory affairs, pathogen safety, clinical development and technical innovations, and was chaired by recognised industry experts with broad experience and insight in their respective disciplines.
To provide an overview of current industry strategic issues and developing trends, John Perkins, CEO of BPC Holdings, was invited to deliver the keynote presentation and a special focus lecture was given by Professor Brian D. Smith on how the business models of life science companies are adapting to our changing world.
Networking and discussions
As with past events, the meeting encouraged networking and discussion between participants in a relaxed and informal format. A key part of the meeting was the poster session — always a lively and highly interactive session.
